In production, honing is usually the last step in the manufacturing process. Honing stones and honing cups from Schmeier are used to achieve goals such as improving the dimensional and shape accuracy as well as the surface quality, which in turn leads to an improvement in the tribological properties. These include methods such as short-stroke and long-stroke oscillation using the plunge-cut and through-hole processes.
The component surfaces mainly include raceways of rolling bearings and friction-optimized components. In addition there are sealing surfaces of injection elements which are machined to the final surface in several stations.
